Theatro Circo

Considered one of the most beautiful Portuguese theatres, Theatro Circo is a reference and the main cultural venue in Braga. Born from the initiative of an illustrious group of citi- zens from Braga,Theatro Circo opened its doors in 1915 and immediately became a space capable of hosting all sort of events, theatre, circus, dance or musical.

Created by the architect João de Moura Coutinho, following the model of the Italian theatres, enriched with a wonderful prosce- nium, provided the city with an architectural jewel. After an intense recovery process that lasted seven years, it reopened in 2006 with all its splendour. Visitors are invited to embark on a journey to dis- cover the marks and milestones of its 100 year old history, where attending a show becomes a unique sensorial experience.
